Wholesale Ordering, Warehousing and Delivery

At Richard Lang & Son, our Derby warehouse combines an experienced team with modern scanning and automation technology. This helps us manage thousands of wholesale giftware, homeware and seasonal products efficiently while providing retailers with an accurate and dependable service.

Modern warehouse technology

We have made significant investments in our warehouse systems to improve stock accuracy, picking and order fulfilment.

Barcode scanners are used throughout our warehouse to help our team identify products, manage stock and check customer orders. Automated processes also provide greater visibility of incoming stock, product availability and orders awaiting dispatch.

These improvements help us:

Maintain accurate stock information.
Reduce picking and packing errors.
Process customer orders more efficiently.
Track products as they move through the warehouse.
Make newly arrived stock available to customers sooner.
Provide a reliable service during our busiest seasonal periods.

Faster and safer goods handling

Our warehouse uses a gravity-fed roller conveyor to move cartons efficiently through the unloading and goods-in process.

The roller system helps our team move incoming deliveries through the warehouse faster while reducing unnecessary lifting and manual handling. This allows stock to be checked, processed and placed into the correct warehouse locations more efficiently.

The result is a safer working environment for our team and a quicker route from receiving new products to making them available for our customers.

Accurate order picking and packing

Customer orders are picked using barcode scanners, helping ensure the correct products and quantities are selected.

Orders are then carefully packed to protect products while in transit. Our warehouse systems and experienced team work together to maintain accuracy throughout the process, from receiving an order to preparing it for dispatch.

Practical and sustainable packaging

We are continually looking for practical ways to reduce packaging waste throughout our operation.

Wherever suitable, we reuse cardboard boxes for customer orders, extending the life of existing packaging and reducing the need for newly manufactured materials.

Waste cardboard is shredded on-site and reused as protective packaging inside customer orders. Cardboard that cannot be reused is collected and sent to paper mills, where it is recycled and used to manufacture new boxes.

This circular approach helps us:

Reduce unnecessary cardboard waste.
Reuse suitable packaging materials.
Reduce our reliance on newly manufactured packing materials.
Protect products effectively during delivery.
Return waste cardboard to the manufacturing process.

Wholesale delivery across the UK and beyond

From our Derby warehouse, we supply independent retailers, online businesses and multisite customers throughout the UK, Ireland and Europe.

Goods are dispatched using an appropriate delivery service based on the destination, order size and number of cartons. Our customer-service team is also available to assist with delivery enquiries and provide support if an order arrives damaged or incomplete.

There is no minimum order value, although our minimum dispatch value is £100. Carriage terms may vary according to the order value and delivery location. Full details are available in our Terms and Conditions.

Supporting independent retailers

Richard Lang & Son has supplied independent retailers since 1949. Although our warehouse technology has changed considerably, our focus remains the same: providing distinctive products, dependable fulfilment and helpful personal service.

We are proudly trade only and do not sell directly to consumers. This means our systems, warehouse and customer-service team are all focused on supporting retailers and helping their businesses succeed.
